Wireless Remote

Performance Trailers, Inc. is the first to introduced a new option for the liftgate controls last year.. The hydraulic liftgate was originally introduced by Fred Gerhardt back in 1975 (Kevin Gerhardt is the current owner of P.T.I. & Fred was his grandfather). Over time we have added a screw driven design to augment the original hydraulic powered liftgate.. Now, the wireless remote technology is reliable & rugged enough to offer it as an option.

We believe we are the first to add the wireless technology in the industry And have applied for that patent. The previous remote control was attached to a 20 ft wire controller. It has worked just fine for 40 years, and it is still available ,upon request. The remote control on a cord has always been subjected to abuse and frequent damage. (i.e. someone in the next pit running over the cord, the controller or both). The simple wireless remote can be carried in the pocket out of harm's way. Attached are photographs of the original wire-less installation completed in 2004.

Antenna

The antenna located in the trailer at the liftgate power unit controls allows for a greater range between remote 7 controls. The receiver takes the commands from the remote and relays them to the controller. Should the remote be damaged or lost, the redundant manual controller are mounted on the trailer as a back-up

Hand Remote

The cordless / wireless remote is similar to the TV remote we have in our homes. The wireless remote sends radio signal to the receiver, and the receiver electronically tells the Liftgate power unit what to do. Go-up & Go - down or Level- right & Level -left Manual controls are located on the trailer. Should the remote be damaged or lost, the redundant manual controls are mounted on the trailer as a backup
